Caveco Consulting Ltd.

Senior mining engineering, project management, and governance for Canadian resource-sector clients.

A fractional practice providing director-level capability on a retained basis. Remote-first, non-exclusive, structured for projects whose resourcing needs shift materially as execution advances.

— 01 / Practice

A professional engineering practice serving owner-operators, developers, and explorers across the Canadian mining sector.

Caveco supports mining companies across the two phases where director-level judgment is most concentrated: the development path from resource definition through financing and regulatory approval, and the execution path through construction and operational readiness. Engagements focus on the work that carries the project forward: execution strategy, governance frameworks, schedule and cost integrity, and the structured reporting that boards, regulators, and capital providers rely on.

The practice operates on a fractional basis. Clients access senior capability at defined monthly capacity, without the fixed overhead, equity obligations, or termination exposure of a full-time employment arrangement. Engagements are remote-first, with site presence provided as project phase and scope require.

Caveco Consulting Ltd. is an Ontario corporation, holds a Certificate of Authorization with Professional Engineers Ontario, and carries professional errors and omissions, commercial general liability, and cyber insurance.

— 02 / Services

Two service lines, each scoped to a distinct phase of project delivery.

A.

Project Development & Leadership

For mining companies advancing projects from resource definition through financing and regulatory approval.

Embedded fractional leadership of pre-construction project delivery: Environmental Assessment, Scoping Study, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, and the transition into construction readiness. Engagements focus on the work that makes a study defensible and a financing credible: governance frameworks, execution strategy, owner's team structuring, regulatory and stakeholder interface, and the structured reporting that boards, regulators, and capital providers rely on. Qualified Person responsibilities are accepted under NI 43-101 within the principal's areas of competence: underground mining methods and mine design (hard rock and bedded evaporite operations), capital and operating cost estimation for mining projects, and project execution and construction readiness.

B.

Project Controls & Business Intelligence

For projects moving into or through full construction execution.

Senior project controls leadership for mining projects in construction execution. Caveco establishes and operates the systems that make project performance legible to executives, boards, and capital providers: integrated master schedules, cost control and forecasting frameworks, progress measurement and earned value analysis, contractor schedule review, and the business intelligence infrastructure that integrates data across project controls, finance, and operations. Engagements emphasize system architecture, implementation, and change management through the phases where project performance is most at risk.

— 03 / Principal

Engagements are led by the principal consultant, with extended delivery capability available through a defined collaborator network where scope warrants.

Andrew Smith

Managing Director & Principal Consultant

Andrew is a professional mining engineer with more than a decade of experience leading underground mine development and major capital projects. His work spans both sides of Caveco's practice: director-level leadership of pre-construction project delivery, including feasibility execution, regulatory and financing interface, and governance framework development; and the design and operation of the project controls and business intelligence systems that carry projects through construction. He accepts Qualified Person responsibilities under NI 43-101 within his areas of competence in mining engineering.

In pre-construction delivery, Andrew has held director-level responsibility for feasibility execution, environmental assessment and regulatory approvals for early works construction, project financing strategy in concert with capital advisors, and the development of governance frameworks that carry projects through into construction. His study management experience includes integrated study delivery from scoping through feasibility, with coordination across mining, processing, infrastructure, exploration, and supporting technical disciplines.

In project execution and controls, he has directed international mine-building portfolios with cumulative contract values exceeding $500 million, integrated enterprise business intelligence systems across project controls, finance, and operations, and led contract negotiations and commercial dispute resolution across multi-project environments.

Andrew's institutional service includes a long tenure as Chair of the CIM Porcupine Branch and as a Director on the CIM National Board.

— 04 / Engagement Model
